Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

RAGBRAI is coming to town!

leave a comment »

The gardens are looking FANTASTIC …. just in time to show them off to all the RAGBRAI participants going through Waterloo tomorrow night!  RAGBRAI riders will be riding east on Orange Road and then turning north on Hess Road up to the water park.  It should be quite a sight!  In partnership with Hawkeye Community College, the Arboretum will also be open for a select amount of pre-registered campers to camp in the grassy areas surrounding our parking lot.

Since Hawkeye Community College is the main campsite and the main organizer for our area, the Arboretum is letting them manage the camping and other hosting responsibilities (food, shower facilities, security, etc).  To not interfere with their plans, there will be no organized events at the Arboretum.  But we are still anticipating many RAGBRAI participants will want to visit the Arboretum and walk through our gardens!

If you are free on Thursday afternoon and early evening, I encourage you to come out to the Arboretum and greet some of our RAGBRAI visitors.  I know they would enjoy meeting you and learning more about the Arboretum from you!

For those of you who volunteer in the gardens on Thursdays, we will not be working in the gardens.  In order to keep our equipment and tools secure, I will be locking the Head House.  The Education Center will also be locked, but restrooms will remain open.

See you in the gardens.
