Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

Don’t forget to wrap your trees!

Do you remember last April when I wrote about our espalier trees being chewed up by rabbits?  To see the photos, read here https://cedarvalleyarboretum.wordpress.com/2010/04/08/rascally-rabbits/.  Fruit and small caliper trees are especially susceptible to rabbit nibbling.  And while you can’t always outsmart the rabbits, it is certainly worth trying.  I encourage you to buy tree wrap at your favorite garden center or use some sort of cut up tubing or tiling (like I used on this young dogwood tree).

Also, don’t forget to unhook your garden hoses from your hydrants for the winter!

See you in the gardens.
