Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

Winter Retreat a Success!

leave a comment »

Two things are true about Arboretum volunteers:

1. They don’t mind rolling up their sleeves to get important work done.

2. They like to have FUN!

Each January, we have a planning retreat to lay out the goals of the upcoming season.  This event is open to all Arboretum volunteers plus any other community members wanting to get involved at the Arboretum.  This sort of planning might not sound like the best way to spend your Saturday morning, but we make it fun.  Chinese New Year was our theme this year and was a perfect tie-in to our discussions.  We had a great time coming together (once the snow starts flying, we don’t see each other often!) and celebrating the MANY accomplishments of 2010 and laying out the 2011 season.

It is truly amazing to see the Arboretum’s growth and success with the help of so many people.  It proves the saying – many hands make light work.  Stay tuned as we begin to announce the many projects and improvements for the 2011 season!

Many thanks to Pam and Al Hays for planning this year’s retreat and all who attended.  Also thanks to Pat McGivern for the photos!

See you in the gardens.
