Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

Far From Home

leave a comment »

Over the past several days I have been visited by these two playful pups.  They had sweet personalities and I enjoyed chatting with them while I worked … but both were very skinny and clearly not cared for.  I was able to capture them this afternoon in the Education Center so I could find them the help they needed.  After a quick call to the Cedar Bend Humane Society and fifteen minutes, the pups were on their way to a good meal and safer home.

Unfortunately this is not the first time strays have shown up at the gardens.  It is possible that they just wander too far from home and get lost, but more likely they were abandoned on the side of the road to find their own way.

If you come across a stray pet, I encourage you to call the Cedar Bend Humane Society 319-232-6887.  Please don’t wait for someone else to make the call.  Also if you no longer can take care of your pet, please take the time to find a good home for him or her.  For more information, please visit http://www.cedarbendhumane.org/Default.aspx .

See you  in the gardens.
