Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

A Special Invitation — Garden Gallery & Gift Shop

leave a comment »

Hey All – Just wanted to pass along a fun invitation that came my way.  Jolene is a longtime Arboretum volunteer and supporter as well as artist and peony enthusiast.  She is having weekend open houses at her home in June and passed along this information.  It is worth the drive to Grundy Center just to see her gardens and art!

See you in the gardens.

Garden Gallery & Gift Shop

801 10th Street

Grundy Center, Iowa

June 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, & 25-26

10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily – rain or shine

The Outside Garden:

Stroll through my garden.  Outside garden art includes an old push lawn mower and a cultivator, pots, planters, trellises, birdhouses, and lots of other items.

Featured items include ‘garden flowers’ and ‘garden towers’.  Each piece is created from old glass. Over 100 pieces are designed for display outside in the garden or hung on outdoor buildings or inside as glass art.

Garden and yard art is displayed in a flower garden filled with over 70 peony bushes.  Varieties include  ‘First Arrival’, ‘Double Pink’,  ‘Mary Brand’, ‘Brand’s Magnificent’, ‘Felix Crousse’, ‘Festiva Maxima’, ‘Lady Kate’, ‘Pride of Shenandoah’ (from Earle May gardens), ‘Rachel’, ‘Do Tell’, ‘Snow Swan’, ‘Raspberry Clown’, ‘Lillian Wild’, ‘Late White’, ‘Kansas’, ‘Celebration’, ‘Jenny’s Rose’, ‘Charles Burgess’ and fern leaf peonies.

The Inside Gift Shop:  All kinds of fun items for the home, kitchen and garden!

CARDS –   ‘Pressed Flower’ cards, ‘Greetings From Iowa’ cards, ‘Paper Dolls’ cards, ‘Reborn’ cards and  . . . . Wills’s Cigarette Cards and bookmarks

Also included inside are decorated mirrors, art pottery, and antique items as well as collectables. Vintage hand-crocheted pillowcases, baskets, nostalgic napkin and tablecloth sets, and gardening books round out the items available.

“I am making a conscious effort to Renew, Reuse and Recycle.   Virtually nothing in my garden or shop is new.   There are just too many pretty and interesting things in this world being thrown away.  I buy them, enjoy them for a while and then sell them to others who appreciate.”  Jolene Rosauer
