Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

Weed & Unwind

leave a comment »

The Arboretum’s weekly Weed & Unwind event is the easiest – and funnest! – way to volunteer in the gardens.  Plan on attending a Weed & Unwind event, held each Thursday starting at 4:00 p.m.  Volunteers are welcome to come and go as their schedule allows.

After working in the gardens, volunteers are welcome to stick around and socialize.  This is an opportunity to volunteer in the gardens while meeting with friends and enjoying whatever drinks or snacks you may choose to bring!  Weed & Unwind began May 12th and will continue throughout the season.  (Weed & Unwind will not be held if raining.)

Volunteer at the Arboretum

Volunteer positions at the Arboretum encompass every area of the organization.  People of all skill levels, talents and interests are encouraged to get involved with activities available to fit most schedules.

For example, you can:

Get your hands in the dirt.  Gardeners of all skill levels are welcome to volunteer in the gardens.  We encourage you to join us on Thursday evenings throughout the summer (check out the Weed & Unwind section) or schedule a time with Mollie any time during the work week.

Use your creativity while working alongside other gardening enthusiasts.  The Arboretum has a variety of garden committees set up to work on the design of specific gardens at the Arboretum.

If you are interested in learning more about any of the volunteer opportunities listed above, please contact Mollie at director@cedarvalleyarboretum.org.  You can also call the office at (319)226-4966.

See you in the gardens.
