There is a real party starting in the Head House!

The Fall Harvest Festival is less than two weeks away and scarecrows are starting to trickle in.  For the festival, scarecrows are placed throughout the gardens for visitors old and young to enjoy.  The scarecrows are made in every shape and size and in all materials.  Here are a few examples to give you and idea:

        

     

        

Want to join the scarecrow fun?  The scarecrow contest is FREE to enter!

Scarecrow:  A human figure that is used to scare birds, such as crows, from eating seeds planted for crops.  Scarecrows can be made of anything… fabric, metal, straw, cardboard, plastic.  The sky is the limit!

To enter the contest, please drop off your completed scarecrow to the Arboretum’s Education Center during one of the following check-in times:

Friday September 16th  9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, September 17th  10 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Youth to 12 Years – 1st, 2nd & 3rd place awards with gift certificate and ribbon

Family – 1st, 2nd & 3rd place awards with gift certificate and ribbon

Business – 1st, 2nd & 3rd place awards and ribbon

One Grand Prize for People’s Choice – $25.00 prize and ribbon

One Grand Prize for Judge’s Choice – $25.00 prize and ribbon
