Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens

About the Arboretum

May Tour 047

The Arboretum was started in the mid nineties by a group of community members wanting a green space in the Cedar Valley.  72 acres east of Hawkeye Community College were chosen, and we’ve been off running ever since.  And until recent years, the gardens and grounds were still managed all by volunteers – that includes leading capital campaigns for major construction, organizing the annual Fall Harvest Festival and soliciting funds to meet our operating budget.

Many people in our community have come and gone through The Arboretum over the years, donating their time, talents and money; making The Arboretum a true cross-section and gem of our community.

Living in Northeast Iowa, it’s easy to forget how lucky we are when it comes to green, open spaces.  At the Arboretum, we encourage you to truly live outdoors and to take advantage of the beautiful public green space we have in the Cedar Valley.

Green Space … YOUR Place!

The Arboretum is located in Waterloo, Iowa on East Orange Road directly east of Hawkeye Community College.  For more information, please visit our website at http://www.cedarvalleyarboretum.org.  The gardens are open dawn to dusk, April through October, and admission is free to the public.
